I slathered on the fancy stuff.
The good lotion. The kind I have to shake first.
The one that smells like money, honey, and a hint of hope.
I moisturized my legs, elbows, neck, and even that weird patch behind my knee that feels like crepe paper now.
I know it’s TMI - I moisturized my vulva, thank you very much.
Because menopause dryness is not limited to the stuff people can see.
And honestly? I deserve a damn medal. Or at least a compliment.
Midlife skin isn’t like “dry in the winter” skin.
It’s biologically different.
Estrogen levels drop, and with it goes moisture, collagen, oil production, and the ability to hold hydration.
Which means your skin is suddenly:
Fragile AF
Itchy in weird places
Thirsty, even though you just drank 40 oz of lemon water
And somehow flaking and breaking out at the same time
If you’ve ever gone from dewy to desert overnight, welcome. You’re not alone. You’re not crazy.
You’re just in the part of the program where your skin stops making sense.
Here’s the kicker: the only solution isn’t more product.
It’s more care.
More fat. More hydration.
More slowing down to rub in oil while pretending we’re that girl in the French skincare ad.
(You know the one. She’s 53 and glowing. Probably because she naps.)
We don’t talk enough about this part. About the invisible labor of trying to feel okay in your body again.
The effort of layering on creams and hope every night.
